The West Wales Ladies Bowling Association arrived at our green on Friday August 23rd - and what an entrance !

Many of them had played in the successful Pembrokeshire County Ladies team that had won the Savegar Cup (a competition between all the ladies county bowling associations in Wales) the previous Sunday, so they arrived very high spirits.

The 20 plus party all arrived wearing High Viz jackets and Hard Hats, and after relaxing in the clubhouse bar changed into more traditional Bowls wear  for the 5 rink match. On a number of occasions during the game a whistle was blown - at which point, all members of the touring party would reenact the pose of characters on the lanyards that they had all been issued with. Anyone under performing was issued with a fine - all money going to the tour charity. Due to the extremely hot conditions the game was shortened to 18 ends, with a break for Tea & Biscuits after 9.

Whilst Bristol St Andrews manage to win the game, the Tourist left Derby Road with veryhappy memories of their day - many promising to return again one day. We certainly hope so !
